About

Hi, I’m Bert Deferme - aka “bdeferme”. I’m a Linux & Open Source wizard at Open-Future with 15+ years of experience turning chaotic systems into well-oiled machines. RHCE/RHCSA and Puppet pro, fluent in Red Hat, Debian, KVM, and a truckload of automation tools. I fix, secure, and automate Linux environments — and can even explain it without putting you to sleep.
For a more detailed look at my background, see the resume.
What do I write about?
This blog doesn’t stick to one niche - think of it less like a well-organized
bookshelf and more like a ~/docs
folder.
Expect posts mostly about:
- Linux - because rebooting is for amateurs.
- Open Source - sharing is caring (and debugging is a group activity).
- Development/Scripting - writing clean, efficient code to solve problems and make things run smoothly.
- Music - my other expensive hobby, where I debug synth patches instead of code.
- Parenting - mostly just keeping tiny humans alive while they find new and creative ways to break things (and sleep schedules).
For a more structured look at my interests, see the tags page.
Most posts are in English, though an occasional Dutch one might sneak in —
think of it as an unexpected locale
change.
